At St. Martin of Tours Parish, we look to our patron not simply as a figure from the past, but as a guide for how we live our faith each day.
Martin teaches us that holiness often begins in small, concrete acts of charity. His sharing of the cloak was simple—but it revealed a heart open to Christ. It reminds us that in every act of kindness, especially toward those in need, we encounter the Lord Himself. As a parish, we are called to live that same generosity—in our homes, in our community, and in our care for the poor.
He also shows us that faith is a journey. Martin did not remain where he started. From soldier to disciple, from monk to bishop, he kept responding to God’s call as it unfolded in his life. In the same way, we are invited to grow—to deepen our prayer, to learn our faith more fully, and to take the next step, wherever the Lord is leading us.
As a bishop, Martin was a shepherd who went out to his people. He did not wait for others to come to him—he sought them out, especially in the rural areas where the Gospel had not yet taken root. His example challenges us to be a parish that does not remain inward-looking, but one that reaches out, welcomes others, and shares the joy of the Gospel.
Finally, St. Martin points us to the heart of our life as a parish: the Eucharist. It is here that we encounter Christ most deeply. It is here that we are formed as His Body. And it is from here that we are sent out—to live what we have received.
Inspired by St. Martin, we strive to be a community rooted in faith, formed by the sacraments, and committed to serving others with generosity, humility, and love.
