Deep within every human heart is a longing for something more—for peace, meaning, belonging, and love.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a wedding feast prepared by a king for his son. Everything is ready. And then comes the invitation: “Come to the feast.”
That may be one of the simplest descriptions of the whole story of salvation. God prepares. God provides. And then God invites.
Yet some of those invited are too busy to come. One goes to his farm, another to his business. There is something very familiar about that. Most of us do not deliberately reject God. Life simply becomes full, and what seems urgent can gradually crowd out what is eternal.
But God does not give up on His desire to gather His people. He keeps calling, seeking, and opening the doors.
Every Sunday, Christ draws us around His table. He speaks to us in His Word and gives us Himself in the Eucharist. Here, our restless hearts begin to find their rest. Here, we remember who we are and know that we belong.
And having welcomed us, Christ sends us to extend His invitation to others—our families, our friends, and those who may have drifted away.
Perhaps this week there is someone who needs to hear through us: There is still a place at the table. Everything is ready. Come to the feast.
